UPDATE PATREON 1.00 AND PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT!


Hello everyone! Platier here!

We're here to give you guys updates and news about the project! We apologize for the delays. Initially we were supposed to release the update on the 5th, then the 7th, before it was ultimately pushed back to March 14th. Again, we’d like to apologize for this.

There were several factors why it turned out like this, the major factor being the battle system. Since Ren’py was designed more to be more on the Dating Sim side instead of more complex RPG-esque systems, us messing with Python and Ren’py was quite... volatile at first, like Nobel trying to tame Nitro for the first time. Random errors kept popping up and stuff just didn’t work as planned. It was quite hectic, but after many trials and errors we finally got it to a stable enough state to be played. It also doesn’t help that we’re essentially building the system from scratch, setting things up in pure Python while Ren’py’s internal mechanisms also giving us a lot of grief for trying to tinker with it.

Sure, we could dissect from other VNs’ battle system and copy it onto ours, but it would not only be more time-consuming and tedious, but also none of the systems we’ve seen could really fit our necessities to a T. Building this system from scratch may have been painful, but it also taught us a lot about Python and Ren’py along the way – hopefully we can incorporate these newfound knowledge onto other features we have planned for this game. (some of them might have been hinted in the story before, so stay tuned!)

So, with that aside, what about the update? What are the changes? Well, first off, since we’ve been revising the story and some visual assets from the start to where we last left off (along with other tidbits), we advise you guys to start a fresh save and play through the game again.

- Sprite Management: As per our sprite overhaul, we added new sprites for Alisa, Max, Ray, Alex and Kody! (We will update the rest of the characters in future updates, so expect others to get a fresh coat of paint as well)

- Battle System: We’ve implemented the bare-bones of our battle system. While it still lacks a lot of polish, as well as the other bells and whistles of a finished product, it is functional with some foundational elements of the gameplay loop. Currently there are two battles added to the story, with more coming in the future. (along with new CGs, too!)

- Build numbering: We're going to update the build number to 1.00. It will mark the game’s 7th day, the finale for Chapter 1. So please make make a new save and enjoy Crystal Coast all over again!

We thank you for all of your support for this game that we're able to go this far into development. We hope that you'll still be with us until we reach the conclusion on Chapter 4. Update 1.00 will be available for Patrons now and Public later on, on April 2022 (Which is our Anniversary!).
